Urban & Territorial Policies
Strengthening
urban and territorial policy systems is today recognized as an important lever
for local and national sustainable environmental, social and economic
development. In the last two decades, international organizations and
governments have been more attentive to these particular policy systems and
their potential. Many countries have already undergone important reforms to
improve the capacity of national, local, and sectoral institutions to produce
more robust urban and territorial policy systems capable of better addressing
sustainability and resilience challenges. In Lebanon, UPLoAD has been involved
in such an effort, particularly by assisting UN-HABITAT and the Lebanese
Government in producing national reports, guides, and policy roundtable
discussions. This includes, among others, national reports for Habitat III
conference (2016) and New Urban Agenda implementation (Quito+5), UN-HABITAT’s
National Urban Policies Lebanon diagnosis report.
UPLoAD is
committed to developing its work in this particular field.
